Eligibility
We are looking for women who are approximately 6 months pregnant ideally, reside in Hull and require additional support. If the mum you are referring is at an earlier or later stage in her pregnancy, please do not hesitate to refer her to us; we will offer our services from any stage during the pregnancy, including postnatal support only, where required.
The Process
The Goodwin Volunteer Doula Project Team will contact the expectant mum and arrange a home visit to discuss their needs in more detail and explain more about the scheme. We will go to this home visit with a particular volunteer in mind.
If it is confirmed that the mum will benefit from the support of a Doula, we will then assign the volunteer and facilitate the first meeting between them and the mum. A staff member will contact you to let you know who is supporting the mum you have referred, and will keep you well informed of the support plan as it progresses throughout the pregnancy.

If you have an expectant mum you feel would be eligible for the Goodwin Volunteer Doula Project, or if you require any further information, please initially complete the attached referral form and contact Stephanie Lewis on 01482 497811 or slewis@goodwin-centre.org to discuss.
Please note that acceptance will depend upon:
- The number of volunteer doulas we have available
- The number of women we already have on the scheme.
- The level of support the women currently has.
